Haval Prices in South Africa
Prices from gwm.co.za, last checked 5 October 2026.
Haval is GWM's SUV brand and one of the best-selling Chinese nameplates in South Africa, with the Jolion and H6 doing most of the volume. GWM publishes pricing for every derivative rather than a single entry price, so the list below is complete down to trim level, with engines. It also covers what shapes the monthly instalment, and there is a free VIN check if the car you are looking at is used.

What a Haval costs per month
The sticker price is the easy part. What most buyers want to know is the monthly instalment, and no published figure will match everyone, because it comes down to four things. The price of the derivative you choose sets the starting point. Your deposit reduces the amount financed, so a larger one lowers every instalment that follows. The term stretches the balance over more months, which cuts the monthly figure while increasing the total interest you pay. And the interest rate is set against your own credit profile, which is why two people can be quoted very differently on the same car.
A balloon payment lowers the instalment further by deferring part of the price to a lump sum at the end of the agreement — useful if the monthly number is the constraint, expensive if you have not planned for the final payment. Dealers and banks will quote the actual figure against the derivative and terms you want, and that quote is the only one worth budgeting against. Ask for it in writing, and check whether it includes the monthly service fee, the initiation fee and insurance, which are easy to leave out of a headline number.
Which Haval makes sense at which price
The Jolion City at R348 950 is the cheapest way into the brand, and the Jolion Pro range from R392 150 covers most of the volume. The H6 starts at R495 500 for the Luxury and climbs to R749 900 for the Hi-4 plug-in hybrid, so the H6 range alone spans more than a quarter of a million rand — worth knowing before comparing a headline price against a top derivative. The hybrids carry a clear premium over the petrol cars: the H6 Luxury Hybrid is R146 000 more than the petrol Luxury, which takes a lot of fuel saving to recover.
Buying a used Haval
Haval has been in South Africa longer than most Chinese brands, so there is a real used market, and the Jolion and H6 turn over in volume. The usual checks apply: genuine mileage, a complete service record, and no accident history. Because Haval records often are not held in South African or Western vehicle databases, a local history check can return very little. Decoding the VIN against Chinese manufacturer sources confirms what the car actually is, which is the first thing to establish before you negotiate.
How to decode a Haval VIN
Every HavalVIN follows the same 17-character structure as any other manufacturer: a World Manufacturer Identifier (positions 1–3), a Vehicle Descriptor Section (positions 4–9) covering body style and drivetrain, and a Vehicle Identifier Section (positions 10–17) covering model year and the unique production sequence. Enter the full VIN into the free decoder to confirm it's valid and see the decoded make, model, and year.
What a Haval VIN check reveals
